What is Curling?
Curling "Rocks"
This sport of ours goes back centuries to Scotland where it was originally played outdoors on frozen ponds with stones formed by nature and brooms to clear the snow from the path of the stones.
Scottish immigrants brought the game to North America in the 18th century with its standardized equipment and facilities and indoor ice. Many innovations have resulted in a game of fitness, precision and finesse.
Curling became an Olympic medal sport in 1998. The Ardsley Curling Club was formed in 1932 and is a member of the regional and national curling associations.
Our Club is also home to the New York Caledonian Curling Club (believed to be the oldest continously active sporting organization in the US), St. Andrew's Curling Club, formed in 1903 and the Ardwicks women's curling club.
