Photos: USA Curling
Pictured above are Danny Casper (left) and Andrew Stopera (right). Both grew up in the same town in Westchester County, both grew up curling here at Ardsley Curling Club, and both are now two of America's best curlers. Danny Casper is the Skip of Team Casper, while Andrew Stopera plays second for Team Dropkin. They finished in first and second place at the 2025 U.S. National Championships with team Dropkin winning the Gold and Team Casper winning the Silver in a nail biter of a game that took an extra end to decide. Stopera, along with his mixed doubles partner Sarah Anderson also recently won the silver medal in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Mixed Doubles. Watch for both teams to be competing in the Men's Olympic Trials which will be held this Fall in Sioux Falls, SD.
Both Danny and Andrew are former U.S. Junior National Champions.
The newly rebuilt National Championship Trophy (pictured in the center) was named the Kaytaro Sugahara Cup after long time Ardsley member Kay Sugahara in honor of his lifetime contributions to the sport of curling not only in the United States, but world wide. Kay was a key proponent in getting Curling reinstated as an Olympic event in Nagano in 1998. USA Curling commissioned Master Craftsman, longtime friend of Kay's and long time Ardsley curler Derek Kayser to build the trophy.

. . . you'll find a warm atmosphere (yes, despite the ice), ideal for establishing and nurturing friendships. Here you'll play a great game in men's, women's, mixed, and seniors league competition (Oct. - April). Instructional programs help you get started, and support from your teammates and 'skip' (captain) assures your progress. There's a juniors program too for kids age 12-18. And you'll enjoy sitting in front of the clubhouse's giant fireplace with teammates and opponents after games with some refreshments, talking over the game's highpoints.
