Curling is the hottest sport on ice at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang!

Now's your chance to try it for yourself with a Learn to Curl Membership at Ardsley Curling Club.

If you've always wanted to try curling, now is the perfect time. Sign up for our Spring Learn to Curl classes, where experienced instructors will walk you through the steps and teach you all the basics of proper curling technique. Once you're hooked (and who wouldn't be?), you can play in our leagues and enjoy our club's lively facility and comaraderie.

Though it may be too late to play in this year's Winter Olympic Games, you'll be sure to impress your friends with your new curling knowledge by dropping phrases like, "Nice Draw Weight" and "Sweet Double Raise Takeout"!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Learn to Curl sessions include the following instruction, practice, and simulated game play:

  • Stretching and warm-up
  • Moving safely and confidently on the ice
  • Delivering a curling stone with the proper "handle" (it's called curling for a reason!)
  • Game play fundamentals, including strategy and etiquette
  • Cool-down and broomstacking (post-game socializing)

Your first session will be similar to one of our Curling Sampler sessions. Then our instructors will delve much deeper, helping you refine your curling technique with additional practice, and explaining more details about curling strategy. You'll be league-ready in no time at all!

WHAT TO WEAR

All necessary gear will be provided. All you need is warm, loose fitting clothing and clean, flat, rubber soled shoes (trainers are ideal) to change into for curling. Do not wear the shoes that you plan to use into the club; change into them when you arrive so they remain as clean as possible. It's best to dress in layers so you can shed some clothes as you warm up on the ice. For those with mobility issues, delivery sticks allow stones to be delivered from a standing position.

WHAT IT COSTS

The Learn To Curl Membership fee is $200.

Your registration includes an Ardsley Curling Club membership through December 31, 2018.  For $200 you receive two 2-hour lessons this spring, a refresher in the fall, plus weekly curling in as many leagues as you can fit into your schedule. After December 2018, you can continue your 1st year membership from January through March 2019 for an additional $175.

As a bonus, if you attend one of our Curling Sampler sessions, we'll apply your Sampler fee towards your Learn to Curl membership.

You've seen it on TV, now find out what all the yelling is about. Come join us this March, learn a new sport, and make some new friends!

At the Ardsley Curling Club

. . . you'll find a warm atmosphere (yes, despite the ice), ideal for establishing and nurturing friendships. Here you'll play a great game in men's, women's, seniors and mixed league competition (Oct. - March). Instructional programs help you get started, and support from your teammates and 'skip' (captain) assures your progress. And there's a kid's program too. And you'll enjoy sitting in front of the clubhouse's giant fireplace with teammates and opponents after games with some refreshments, talking over the game's highpoints.
